Art
The goal of Maspeth High School's fine and performing arts programs is to support the school's core values of truth, beauty, and goodness through the promotion and appreciation of multiple arts forms. All students at Maspeth High School are encouraged to specialize in a single arts discipline over the course of their four-year high school career. As freshmen, students choose from the following: theater, dance, chorus, band, or visual arts. Our art courses are designed to promote the school's mission to have our students become leaders in all fields of personal endeavors through academia and to be physically, emotionally and intellectually healthy with determination and compassion. In addition to our daily programs, we offer multiple afterschool opportunities for students to become further involved in their chosen art form or to explore the other disciplines. Students may participate in any of the following afterschool clubs: Art Club (visual), Argonotes (acapella group), Tech Club (theater), Band Club (all instruments), Dance Company (ballet), National Art Honor Society, and Tri-M Music Honor Society. We believe that these offerings will help us to achieve our ultimate goal of providing a foundation from which our students will develop a lifelong commitment to the arts.
