About

We Are a NY Performance Standards Consortium School. This means that you will NOT take four of the required five New York State Regents standardized exams. Instead, you will design and accomplish deep inquiry projects and defend theses in four core subject areas. This is real college preparatory work! We have a diverse population! Bronx Lab Students come from all around the world, with a concentration of students whose families hail from the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. You will learn with and from our diverse community! Advisory is the core of our school. Our advisory classes meet four times a week and stay together for four years with the same teacher. You will join a small family group that will help you navigate high school and beyond! Our Office of Student Support will keep you on track! You will work with a team of highly trained counselors, social workers and high school professionals who focus on your needs and your journey! Our Office of College Placement will get you into college. You will work with full-time college and career counselors to explore post-secondary goals and complete college and scholarship applications. You will go on college trips, take part in lock-in events to complete applications, and experience March Madness, a month-long push to learn about, apply and be accepted to your choice of college! You will become a student leader! You will connect with the Student Voice Committee, be mentored by older students in our Peer Group Connection classes, learn about your career choices in our Real World Learning classes and take part in Peer Mediations. Your classmates will include performers, thinkers, activists and athletes. Bronx Lab School students are our greatest asset and our greatest pride and joy!. We are part of the Career Readiness and Modern Youth Apprenticeship (CRMYA) pilot, which helps us support career readiness for all our students. We have courses that help our ninth and tenth graders explore their career interests and develop readiness skills. Our students can apply for apprenticeships in tech, finance, and business, which allows them to earn and learn while in high school. Art
Bronx Lab students have the opportunity to explore the arts through theater instruction, with multidisciplinary theatrical projects created in collaboration with Epic Theatre Ensemble. Epic Theatre Ensemble is an organization comprised of artists and activists dedicated to making bold theatrical works on professional stages and in public schools that inspire dialogue about social, ethical, and political issues. Epic builds thoughtful citizenship in communities throughout New York City, modeling creative engagement with civic issues by commissioning, developing, and producing socially-minded theater, and connecting these plays to schools and neighborhoods via innovative in-school, afterschool, and public performance programs. Additionally, again through multidisciplinary projects, the students explore visual art and creative writing, created in collaboration with Community-Word Project (CWP). CWP is a New York city-based arts-in-education organization that facilitates culturally responsive, multidisciplinary art programs for students, teaching artists, and communities to develop and amplify their voices and creative skills. A CWP strength is supporting multilingual learners and students with disabilities is the multiple modalities they introduce into instruction and student response prompts.
