About

Quest to Learn is a public 6–12 school open to all students in New York City. We believe that learning happens by doing. Our curricula privileges experiences where students learn, practice, and apply knowledge to systems and problems that exist in the world. Students are challenged to take accelerated courses in middle and high school, explore career interests, and join extracurricular activities so that they graduate with a plan for their future. We believe in the power of great teaching. Young people need the consistent feedback and support of excellent teachers to develop into the adults that will one day inherit our place. Our teachers are expert learners, constantly revising and adjusting their teaching to meet the individual needs of their students. We believe that students design their future. Through our Home Base Advisory program, individualized academic scheduling, and extensive enrichments, students develop the skills to navigate the complexities of adolescence and design the future they aspire to.

Art
Our current arts program includes visual, digital, and performing arts courses. Currently, the performing arts program is exclusively a regularly scheduled course in the middle school. To support the students and teachers, we have a close partnership with the High Line, to provide in-school and after school grant-funded arts enrichment. We are looking to expand that partnership next year. At the high school level only, we have a partnership with the Whitney Museum, which includes special tours and access. Both arts partners also offer internships to our students. We offer AP Art for high school students, as well.
