At World Journalism Preparatory School (WJPS), journalism is a tool used to share learning and practice the habits of critical thinking in regard to citizenship and democracy. Student publications include an award winning school newspaper, news broadcast program, and yearbook. Opportunities to be immersed in journalism exist through fieldwork, creative projects, performances and interviews. Students visit television networks, newspapers, publishers and colleges. WJPS also offers many opportunities for students to earn college credit before graduating from high school through Advanced Placement Classes and College Now classes at local colleges, as well as at WJPS. Advisory Classes and Road to College Workshops support students and their families throughout the high school years. The WJPS motto is "Don't stop until you're proud," and this is evident in our 100% high school graduation rate.

Communications
Journalism engages students across all subjects as they learn to focus on taking in information, analyzing it and processing it. These reading, writing and problem solving skills are essential for success in college. After learning basic journalism skills, students choose a specialty in newspaper, broadcast, yearbook or magazine writing and production while they follow a traditional schedule of classes.
