At the High School of Applied Communication, our mission is to empower every student to achieve more through the values of hard work, persistence and determination. Our school provides a small caring and supportive environment for students to develop marketable communication skills for the 21st century, which includes courses in Microsoft Office, Website Dev, Journalism, and Public Speaking . We also offer a rigorous college preparatory curriculum focusing on literacy development, problem-solving and critical thinking. Students are also provided full access to a wide variety of AP courses. LaGuardia Community College provides our students access to College Now classes. Our school requires students to wear their uniform on a daily basis.

Art
This year the arts program began to expand its scope by using clay and plaster in the studio art classes and providing a ceramic class as an elective. It may be a half a year course for the next year due to the setup amount. The classes also experimented using various materials, paints, pencils, inks, and fabrics. The success of the three-dimensional materials may lead to more inclusion into the classes if not a class of its own. The arts program arranged a trip for an arts class to visit the Museum of the Moving Image. Due to this success for the following year, we will plan more trips and aligned them with the units of study at the time. The arts program wants to plan a full exhibit or use the arts as a community builder.

Our school offers a focus on 21st century communication skills which included Microsoft Certification, coding, graphics, and database development. Additionally, our students also have access to a wide variety of literacy related classes which include, AP Literature, Speech, Journalism, and other associated classes.
