The goal at Edward R. Murrow High School's arts programs has always been to encourage self-expression through the students' own personal experiences. The role of the arts departments of Murrow are to provide facilities, curricula and a faculty committed to serving all of the students of Murrow. The arts departments are places where students develop knowledge and skills through participation in a unique community dedicated to arts learning. As part of the larger community of Edward R. Murrow High School, the music, theater, media and visual arts departments offer every single student in the building the opportunity to challenge themselves academically, as well as artistically through a wide variety of activities in the arts. Murrow's arts programs introduce students to working artists, museum internships, apprenticeships, universities and the continuous exposure to all the arts in New York City. At Murrow, we understand that we are at the epicenter of culture and use the city and its institutions as such.
