Port Richmond High School is a comprehensive Community School that empowers students to reach their highest academic potential in a nurturing environment. Small, interest-based programs and a rigorous honors program are open to all students and offer a variety of services to our students and families through our new Port Richmond High School Health and Wellness Center. During students' first year, the Freshman Academy provides a culture of high standards, advanced courses, and academic support systems that address individual students' needs. Students are exposed to a wide array of extracurricular and athletic activities in combination with a challenging academic program that prepares them for college and the world of work.

Port Richmond High School is committed to providing a comprehensive arts education. Our highly qualified arts teachers constantly assess student work throughout the year. We offer many classes for students to begin or continue their studies in the arts. The arts courses offered at Port Richmond High School are Beginning Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Chorus, Beginning Guitar, Guitar Ensemble, Beginning Strings, Advanced String Orchestra, Introduction to Theater, Advanced Theater, Beginning Visual Arts and Advanced Visual Arts. We also offer a three-year sequential Media Arts sequence where students produce podcasts and our weekly television show, "Good Morning Port Richmond" that showcases all things Port Richmond! We live- stream school events, performances and athletic games. Our Marching Band can be seen in parades throughout New York City as well as up and down the eastern seaboard. The students in our Music Department attend music festivals outside the school each year and perform at various school and community functions. Our Theatre Department produces two musicals and a "Sing" production each year and see Broadway shows. Our Media Arts classes Our Visual Arts students study 2 dimensional art and graphic arts.Partnerships include Exploring the Arts (Tony Bennett & Susan Benedetto), Roundabout Theatre Company, Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, ABC Grants awarded through Staten Island Council on the Arts, and a long lasting partnership with the Staten Island Philharmonic.

JROTC provides students with the tools, training, and experiences required for today's leadership roles. Drill courses provide the opportunity for students to participate in the National Drill Competition.
