Art
We offer visual (Studio), digital (Photoshop), and multi-media arts to all our students. We also offer a college-board certified course in Advanced Placement (AP) Studio Art (Drawing) for our advanced art students who want to pursue an arts college/a career in the arts. This year, we are collaborating with Flushing Town Hall where artists in residence work with our art teachers and students. Students will be participating in the linoleum logo project and will visit several art museums throughout the year. We also partner with Queens College-CASA to bring professional artists and musicians into the art space to foster student cultural awareness. Our Visual Art students also participate in the Memory Project which is a Global Art Making experience that has provided a venue for our students to paint portraits of children from Columbia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Philippines. We also host a major art exhibit annually at our school where our students showcase their visual and digital artwork to the school community, including parents. Some of our previous graduates have won scholarships in various art competitions. We have art, photography, multi-media, and yearbook clubs that meet every week after school. Students have painted various murals around the school, including classrooms, offices, and hallways.
