Grover Cleveland High School is a nurturing, inclusive learning environment that encourages students to achieve their college/career goals through various pathways of study and project based learning. Pathways include Math/Science Research, Information Technology, Engineering Arts, Life Guarding/Water Safety Instruction, Health Careers (EMT) Music and Fine and Performing Arts. Our students have been recognized for civic and community leadership, have ranked internationally and nationally in bridge-building competitions, ranked citywide in the Science Olympiad and are some of the best life guards in the city of New York. Grover Cleveland High School shares a core commitment to the arts and offers an engaging and rigorous course of study in the arts, including foundation courses in studio art, chorus, band, guitar, keyboard and theater. Students can choose to take advanced electives in the arts, including drawing, painting, ceramics, advanced chorus, band, guitar, Advanced Placement Music Appreciation, and College Now Art History through our partnership with LaGuardia Community College. This year Grover Cleveland High School began a journey to support our newly arrived immigrant students through an integrated ESL/Art course designed to accelerate student learning of the English language. We are strongly committed to the power of art to transform our students. We strive to use the many arts resources in New York City and encourage our students to take advantage of free classes, internships, and unique opportunities in the arts.

Performing Arts/Visual Art & Design

Coursework includes: painting, drawing, sculpting and graphic arts. Drama coursework includes: acting, play-writing and theater production. Music coursework includes: vocal training, instrumental training (string and wind ensembles,) and guitar. This academy partners with Carnegie Hall, The Julliard School, Little Kids Rock, as well as Grammys in the Schools.
