Our school is dedicated to ensuring that all students reach their full potential. Using interest-based, small learning communities and a strong honors program, each student is empowered to reach their highest academic potential in a nurturing environment. We provide students with real-world experience while fostering and promoting postsecondary readiness. Students are exposed to a plethora of co-curricular, extracurricular, and athletic activities to help them become well-rounded global citizens. We are part of the Career Readiness and Modern Youth Apprenticeship (CRMYA) pilot, which helps us support career readiness for all our students. We have courses that help our ninth and tenth graders explore their career interests and develop readiness skills. Our students can apply for apprenticeships in tech, finance, and business, which allows them to earn and learn while in high school.

Art

William Cullen Bryant High School (WCB) has 4 music, 2 dance, 2 theater, and 2 visual arts teachers. WCB has a chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and offers up to 13 sequenced music classes encouraging lifelong musicianship and college study. In addition to many cultural music organizations, select singers performed in the Distinguished Concerts International NY Choral Festival at Carnegie Hall and singers performed for CBS news. WCB students participate in All-City music ensembles, honor bands, Queensboro Arts and NYSSMA festivals. Dance offers sequenced classes including traditional, hip-hop, and contemporary styles. Students trained with the Martha Graham Dance Company, American Ballet Company, Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, and City Center. WCB was featured at the Schubert Theater Festival on Broadway, recently with the school premiere of The Band's Visit. Theater also had scholarships with Young Playwright's residency, Wendy Wasserstein Project, Stella Adler Shakespeare Summer Program, and TDF Summer Playwriting Program. Partnerships have included Roundabout, TDF, EPIC, Creative Arts Team, and C&T companies. Sequenced Theater classes include creative writing, design, and performance. Visual Arts offers graphic and production design, studio art, and yearbook. Partnerships have included Socrates Sculpture Park while working extensively with Pratt scholars. Students have won Arts Connections awards and Chancellor's Endorsed Arts Diplomas. Arts showcase culminating work several times per year.

Science & Math

Focuses on students' development of math and science research techniques, along with critical and analytical thinking skills. Students engage in individual projects, competitions, and trips to colleges and university research seminars. Students experience emergency service training including an EMT introduction course and multiple AP courses.
